After much soul searching and stomach aches, because of Covid-19, we have decided to cancel our International Vocal Masterclass in Meissen this summer. Our responsibilities outweigh other considerations...
– we are concerned about the health of all of us: singers, teachers, all of our extended families, possible audience members, visitors etc.
– out of a plethora of unknowable possibilities and unanswerable questions: Will the borders be open to all the lands from which our singers are coming? And would they still be open after the course is over? Is there a quarantine time when entering Germany and what if that changes suddenly? What would be the protocol, if one of our number or an employee of the Academy would contract Covid while we are there? Would we have to stay for 2 weeks in Quarantine and who would pay for that?
– our concerts make up an immensely important part of our course, and the possibilities of being able to do any form of concert are minimal, and with so many rules and regulations, we felt it would be counterproductive
All the rules, regulations, masks, social distancing, etc., put us in a corset that does not allow us to breathe. And without being able to breathe easily and deeply, without worry, the act of joyful singing and growth, is unimaginable.
But we do have good news!
The dates for 2021 are set! The 31st of July till the 14th of August 2021, can be entered into your calendars and you can start making plans. We will have much to celebrate when we finally do meet again!
Until then: Stay safe, wear a mask, stay healthy, keep singing...if only in the shower! We are looking forward to 2021!
Equally suited for young professional singers or those who want to become professional singers, both from the classical and the musical field, this master class addresses the body, mind and soul of the singer's personality in a holistic way. Our team is internationally active with experience on stage, at conservatories and universities and is teaching and advising for singing lessons, body work, meditation, correpetition, acting, audition training, competent speech therapy and much more. In public concerts in a beautiful ambience you can express your singing talent in front of an audience. The intentionally small group size enables intensive work with clear results.
Our experienced, dedicated teachers are individually focused on each participant. Detailed, realizable tasks promote the personal path to the development of artistic possibilities. For this purpose we offer a wide range of bodywork, meditation, répétition, singing lessons and acting (master class and private lessons). The small size of the venue allows intensive work with clear results, which are presented and rehearsed at two public concerts. Each participant will have 2 x 30 min masterclass with Roberta, 2 x 30 min masterclass with Lucja and 1 x 40 min private lessons with Roberta, as well as 1 x 40 min private lessons with Lucja. In the lessons the old Italian singing method of Belcanto by Giovanni Battista Lamperti (Vocal Wisdom) is followed, who lived 20 years in Dresden and taught at the Semperoper. According to his philosophy, the heart, mind and body should come into harmony. In addition there will be 4 x 30 min with correpetitor Michael or Andrej. Every day Dale will give an one-hour acting group work, and during the week with each singer individually 2 x 30 min acting lessons with the aim to physically and emotionally free singers through different exercises, so that music and singing becoma free and honest. Each day begins with 30 min meditation with Marysol. After breakfast there will be an one-hour group session to strengthen body awareness and work on posture, breathing technique, articulation, support, physical perception and concentration. There will be two concerts to which agents will be invited, the dress rehearsals the day before. There will also be the opportunity to visit energy work with Marysol in the evening.
