Once a year, the gates of the Klosterhof St. Afra in beautiful Meissen on the river Elbe open to talented vocal students and professional singers. Together with dedicated and experienced teachers, the opera singer and vocal coach Lucja Zarzycka dedicates herself individually to each course participant. The course follows the ancient Italian vocal school of Belcanto of Giovanni Battista Lamperti (Vocal Wisdom), according to whose philosophy the heart, mind and body should be in harmony. The goal of this master class is to promote the personal path to the development of artistic possibilities with detailed and realizable tasks. For this purpose the extensive offer with singing lessons, acting, correpetition, body work and meditation serves. The small framework allows intensive work with clear results, which are presented and tested in two public concerts.

Lucja's masterclasses are always a truly special experience for me. What makes them unique, and sets them apart from any other courses I’ve attended,
is the combination of the highest level of professionalism with deep humanity.
We work intensely on voice, technique, and interpretation – and at the same time on a personal level that goes far beyond that.
In Meissen, I felt how valuable this community is: each person shows vulnerability and opens up to the group – and it's precisely through
this that a space is created in which growth becomes possible. This atmosphere not only provides artistic inspiration but also has a lasting
impact and continues to accompany me.
Lucja guides us through this process with endless patience, knowledge, and passion.
She challenges, supports, and opens doors – to your own voice and to an inner freedom that you carry with you onto the stage.
Lucja Zarzycka's summer master workshop is where opera singers acquire their wings. This event is ideal for all opera singers,
regardless of experience level. Lucja has a gift from God and is a big professional teacher. During my first visit to the masterclass,
I was really impressed with her coaching because it was tailored to each individual. She would not skip a single minute of the lesson
in an effort to provide the singer with as many helpful hints as possible. The most crucial aspect of it is that the singer leaves
the lesson feeling energized and prepared to answer any questions. Lucja's teaching style is quite structured; in addition to providing
technical and physical guidance, it can also help singers overcome mental obstacles that may prevent them from achieving their objectives.
My own experience was challenging when I initially attended the workshop, because I was transitioning from mezzo-soprano to soprano at the time.
I was aware that it was a vulnerable time for me, but I was blessed that colleagues were kind and helpful. I felt safe. In addition I had the perfect
environment for me to perform my first soprano arias in a welcoming and energetic atmosphere. There was only time for working, growing, and feeling
valued and loved — no space for anxiety or frustration.
Additionally, at her masterclasses, Lucja offers opportunity to work with talented pianists who gives each singer the chance to prepare effective
arias for auditions but also to try them out at the final concert. As an added bonus, the singer gets to work with stage director Hugo, who provides
significant assistance in interpretation, so at the end, the singer is getting prepared arias that are not only technically resembling but also
musically and dramatically well worked .
For me personally, this masterclass is the time when my voice is receiving rehabilitation. It has a significant impact on opera singers,
especially professional ones.
